This multidisciplinary workshop aims to tackle the significant gaps in theoretical frameworks, methodological approaches, and exploration of new paradigms within the research and design of Conversational User Interfaces (CUIs). Such gaps include: the lack of validated design guidelines to help us improve the usability of CUIs; handling the variability in speech, language, and conversation that still pose problems in both interface design and speech engineering; error-recovery strategies that often lead to degraded user experience; understanding how user behaviours and choices may apply to specific CUI interactions; and issues of ethics and privacy.
We invite the submission of position papers demonstrating research, design, practice, or interest in areas related to conversational user interface design, such as dialogue, conversation, speech, acoustic, language, and multimodal interaction that address one or more of the workshop goals or contributes indirect research that is related to these goals.
Position papers should be 4-6 pages long, in the ACM SIGCHI extended abstract format and include a brief statement justifying the fit with the workshop's topic. Summaries of previous research are welcome if they contribute to the workshop's multidisciplinary goals. Submissions will be reviewed according to:

Potential to contribute to the workshop goals
A demonstrated track of research in the workshop area (HCI or speech/multimodal/dialogue processing, with an interest in both areas).
Alternate submission arrangements may be possible (such as the showcasing of papers previously accepted at the CUI 2019 and CUI 2020 conferences), as well as expressions of interest in participation (with the submission of a CV and brief statement of interest).
